It seems as if Google is working on a brand new operating system with a very flowery and colorful name, at least if you look at a new project page found on GitHub.
Google has not officially annouced that they are working on the new system, but it doesn’t seem as if it is based on Android, which is why some people are speculating that it could be able to run on pretty much every device. Google has given the new project the name “Fuchsia” and unlike Android and Chrome, it doesn’t use the Linux kernel at all.
Even though the Fuchsia hasn’t been officially announced, Google employee Brian Swetland confirmed that Android-maker is behind it, saying “the decision was made to build it open source, so might as well start there from the beginning. Tings will eventually be public, documented and announced, just not yet.”
Where this new OS will wind up is not known yet. Perhaps it’s the base for another Android system, at the same time it might be an undertaking that will go no where. We’ll see.
