iOS 10.3.2 update drops support for 32-bit devices such as iPhone 5 and 5c

Yesterday we mentioned that Apple had begun beta testing its latest iOS 10.3.2 update, however while the update comes to many Apple devices, the new update also kills off support for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c.

The reason for this is that the new update will be dropping support for 32-bit devices. It is interesting that Apple would make such a move idway through iOS 10’s cycle, and not wait until iOS 11 was released.

Apple has sold more than 90 million iPhone 5 units, so it is safe to assume that a lot of these are still being used around the world. However, if these owners want to continue to use Apple devices and want to upgrade to a higher firmware, then they will need to buy a new device.
